1. Cactus Planting

Cacti can not only be placed on regular sand, but also on red sand.

2. Boat Properties

Since update 1.8, boats can travel on land, and they move extremely fast on ice. You might already know that, but you probably didn't know that the underside of a boat actually has a moss texture.

3. Fall-Immune Mobs

Ocelots, iron golems, snow golems, and chickens are all immune to fall damage.

4. Patterns on Blocks

Chiseled sandstone features the face of a Creeper, while chiseled red sandstone displays the pattern of a Wither.

5. Halloween Mobs

During Halloween, mobs wear pumpkins or jack o'lanterns. Since pumpkins have no durability, zombies and skeletons wearing them gain permanent immunity to sunlight damage.

6. Rabbit Behavior

Rabbits flee from players since update 1.9, but they are attracted to players holding carrots or dandelions. Rabbits have 3 health points, and if they spot you holding food across a layer of lava, they might rush toward you and fall into the lava.

7. Canceled Dirt Slabs

Notch once planned to replace all dirt with dirt slabs, but later decided it would make the game terrible and ultimately canceled this update.

8. Obtaining Fireworks

Firework rockets cannot be obtained directly from the Creative mode inventory; they can only be crafted. However, many players might not know what the firework star in the Creative inventory is specifically used for.

9. Dispenser and TNT

TNT launched from a dispenser ignites and explodes immediately, rather than appearing as an item drop like other blocks.
