Dealing with Bees
First, you need to find a bee nest.
Bee Nest Generation
Bee nests naturally generate on oak and birch trees in Flower Forests, Plains, and Sunflower Plains. Each naturally generated tree has a 5% chance of having a bee nest attached.
If there are flowers within a 2-block horizontal radius of an oak or birch sapling, the tree that grows from that sapling has a 5% chance of having a bee nest attached.
In summary, the chance of finding a bee nest is quite high. If you really can't find one, you can use the "artificial" method to create one.
Bee and Bee Nest Mechanics
- A bee nest can house three bees. Bees living in a nest consider it their home base. Bees without a nest will wander aimlessly.
- Bees leave the nest to collect pollen during the day and return at night or during rain to produce honey.
- When a bee returns to the nest, completes a honey production cycle, and leaves, the nest's honey level increases by 1. When the honey level reaches 5, it can be collected, and the nest will appear full of honey. A full nest will have dripping honey particles.
- Directly breaking a bee nest yields nothing and forces any bees inside to exit. Using a tool enchanted with Silk Touch or in Creative mode allows you to obtain the nest itself, and any bees inside will remain inside. When you place the nest later, the bees will still be inside.
- Breaking a nest or collecting honeycomb/honey from it will anger all nearby bees. Angered bees fly quickly and will chase you.
- Bees will also attack other mobs that attack them.
- A bee can only sting you once. After stinging, it will die within 50-60 seconds. Killing a bee only drops experience. In Peaceful difficulty, bees do not sting. On Normal difficulty and above, a sting inflicts the Poison effect.
Therefore, using the right method is important. Don't provoke bees for no reason.
"Collecting" from Bees
What can we get from bees?
- Honeycomb: This is the brood comb, used to craft beehives. Collect it by using shears on a bee nest.
- Honey (Bottle): It is edible, can cure the Poison effect, and can be used to craft honey blocks and sugar. Collect it by using a glass bottle on a bee nest.
- Bee Nest: Collect it using a tool enchanted with Silk Touch.
However, we know that collecting directly will get you stung. Therefore, there are two methods:
- Set the game difficulty to Peaceful. Simple and effective.
- Place a campfire under the bee nest. This will keep the bees neutral while you collect honeycomb, the nest, or honey.
